Welcome To Temple Beth El!

September/October 2019

The halls of Limmud have been bustling with the excitement that comes with the start of the school year which coincided with the Jewish New Year and subsequent fall holidays.

As you may or may not know, one of our Limmud goals is for our students to acquire and practice synagogue skills.  To that end I’d like to highlight a couple of programs we will be offering in the next two months.  November 2nd is our inaugural First Friday Night Service and Dinner which will feature participation from 4th and 5th grade students.  We invite you and your family to join us for this service and dinner. Registration for dinner is required and can be completed on-line or via telephone. The cost of dinner is waived for the students in the participating classes.  Be sure to check out our Family Shabbat Services schedule in this edition of the Kol to learn when your child(ren)’s class will be participating.

The first of our two annual Shabbatonim is fast approaching and we are trying something new. Please mark your calendars for Friday, November 16th.  Limmud will be taking place on this day in lieu of Sunday, November 18th.  Classes will begin at 5:00 pm at which time parents are invited to participate in a facilitated discussion in the Beit Cafe.  At 6:00 pm students and parents will convene in the Chapel for Youth Services (grades 3-7) or the Youth Lounge for Tot Shabbat (grades K-2).  Following services we welcome everyone to join together to celebrate Shabbat with a light kid friendly dinner.

December 15th marks our first monthly Saturday Family Service. It provides and excellent opportunity for your children to put to practice the synagogue skills they have been learning in Limmud.  As always a delicious kiddush lunch will follow.

I look forward to seeing you and your family at one or more of these upcoming programs.

B’Shalom,

Jody Dietz
